Vision

Our vision for South Eveleigh is to create a vibrant new precinct that combines world class work, retail and community spaces. Mirvac and its partners will conserve, interpret and celebrate the precinct’s rich and significant heritage assets and stories.

The redevelopment of South Eveleigh commenced in January 2016, and has delivered two of the three new buildings for commercial, retail, and community purposes, as well as landscaping and public domain improvements.  This will ensure that South Eveleigh connects to the wider precinct and local community.

The redevelopment of South Eveleigh and the Locomotive Workshop is informed by Stage 1 of our Heritage Interpretation Strategy, developed in 2017 by Curio Projects in consultation with the community and stakeholders. This strategy provides initial direction around how the heritage buildings and artefacts will inform and shape the site’s transformation. As part of the SSDAs, we will be considering the heritage interpretation and will commence planning for the Stage 2 Interpretation Plan.

Key to this process will be to retain the existing Blacksmith operation, the exploration of opportunities to increase public activation of the building and provide heritage display areas alongside a range of innovative commercial and artisan retail spaces.

Explore Eveleigh Stories, a self guided tour that celebrates the heritage of the Eveleigh area. Developed by South Eveleigh in collaboration with Art of Multimedia, AHMS, 3D Projects and NGH Environmental.
